Power Plant Productions Old City Philadelphia Queer Multicultural Wedding

Shira and Marjorie’s Wedding at Power Plant Productions in Old City Philadelphia

My favorite part of being a wedding filmmaker is capturing the unique love stories of couples from all walks of life. I’m thrilled to share the very special wedding of Shira and Marjorie, a celebration of love that transcends boundaries and embraces diversity.

Nestled in the heart of Old City Philadelphia, Power Plant Productions set the stage for Shira and Marjorie’s non-traditional wedding. This historic venue provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

The day began with a heartfelt first look at the Benjamin Rush Garden, a serene oasis amidst the bustling city. Against the backdrop of cobblestone streets and historic architecture, Shira stunned in a radiant white dress from Laura and Leigh Bridal while Marjorie exuded sophistication in a stylish tweed suit from Bindle and Keep.

Despite the rain, we embraced the opportunity to capture stunning portraits around the city, capturing the essence of Shira and Marjorie’s love against the backdrop of Philadelphia’s iconic landmarks (including Mr. Barstool!). Clear plastic umbrellas can be one of the best investments for your wedding day!

Shira and Marjorie’s wedding was a beautiful fusion of cultures, blending elements of Jewish and African American traditions. The modern Jewish ceremony officiated by Rabbi Jessi Roemer ended with both the breaking of the glass and the jumping of the broom. The ceremony was a testament to love and unity, surrounded by family and friends who showered the couple with love and blessings. Following the heartfelt vows, the evening continued with a touching first dance, parent dances, and heartfelt speeches that left not a dry eye in the house.

Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by 12th St Catering before hitting the dance floor for a night of fun and joy. A highlight of the evening was a spirited rendition of “Dancing On My Own,” dedicated to the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team and accompanied by hats and jerseys, showcasing the couple’s playful spirit and love for their city.
