Colorful Multicultural London Wedding at Asylum Chapel
August 5, 2024Aneesa and George’s Colorful Indian British Multicultural Wedding at Asylum Chapel in London, UK
Aneesa was a graduate student new to London when she met George, but her studies were not purely academic. She enrolled in an online course called “Setting the Table for Love” and two weeks later, they found each other. Their love grew across cultures and borders (Aneesa is from India and George is from England) and they eventually moved into a cute flat in North London and adopted their beloved cat, Rustam.
Aneesa and George wanted their wedding to reflect their values and personalities, incorporating important cultural traditions in their own way. Much of the wedding was DIY, with help from Kajal Kolors for hair and makeup and Miss Pem for florals. They traveled to India to purchase most of the decor and clothing for the wedding. Aneesa wore an emerald green and rani pink saree from Nalli Silks while George donned a Moss Bros. suit with coattails.
The historic Asylum Chapel in South London served as the perfect ceremony venue. The chapel’s inception as a community center aligns with Aneesa and George’s commitment to giving back to their communities. The old stone walls and stained glass windows created a dramatic and romantic atmosphere. A close friend of the couple officiated the ceremony, which also included religious traditions from Aneesa’s mother and aunt. The couple wrote their own vows which they read during their ceremony, sharing their story with their closest family and friends.
After a flower exit leaving the chapel, the guests walked a few blocks to AMP Studios for the reception. Another unique urban wedding venue in London, AMP Studios offered perfect locations for dinner, dancing, and open air mixing and mingling. There was not a dry eye in the room when Aneesa surprised George by singing “Godspeed” by Frank Ocean during her speech, accompanied by a friend on acoustic guitar.
Following dinner, Aneesa and George changed into matching cream colored ensembles from the brand 431-88 by Shweta Kapur. After a cake cutting and first dance, the party kicked off through the night! Aneesa and George’s wedding is a perfect inspiration of how to create a wedding day that fits your unique values, relationship, and histories. Every detail reflected their individuality and thoughtfully incorporated their closest family and friends throughout the day.
