Bomee and Ivan’s Multicultural Philadelphia Wedding Celebration

Like many modern love stories, Bomee and Ivan’s began with a swipe on a dating app. In fact, Bomee was the one to make the first move on Hinge.

Bomee and Iván’s day was a beautiful mix of three cultures. Iván is from Colombia while Bomee was born in Korea and grew up in Philadelphia. Their ceremony took place at Antioch Church in a combination of English, Spanish, and Korean. While navigating these cultural differences, what has brought them together is their shared faith. Bomee is also fluent in Spanish  and even wrote her vows to Iván in his native language.

During the reception, Bomee mentioned that it was so beautiful to see a big room full of so many different cultures because it was what she envisions heaven to look like. One of my favorite parts of documenting weddings is learning about so many different cultures and religions and being able to capture the beauty of them all.

We did the first look a little differently, and with a lot less looking. Bomee and Iván wanted to pray together before the ceremony while saving the first look for the wedding aisle. The solution was to cover Ivan’s eyes with a tie! Seeing his reaction at the altar definitely made the blindfold worth it in the end.

Bomee and Iván also kept it simple with no wedding party, just a few immediate family members helping them prepare. I always encourage my couples to think outside the box and remind them that they don’t have to do anything they don’t want to just because tradition says they should. No wedding party allowed them to have more time together just the two of them, and they still were able to enjoy the company of all their guests during the reception.

They went for a clean and simple look for their wedding decor, using all white flowers with touches of greenery. These details matched perfectly with Bomee’s satin bridal gown with a long veil and Ivan’s classic black tux. They also had a super fun bubble exit leaving the church on the way to their limo!

After the reception, we headed to the beautiful Stoneleigh Gardens for portraits. It was such an amazing location with so many places to take photos. I could have spent all day there! We were also so lucky with the weather, the clouds made the light very soft and it started to drizzle just as we were wrapping up!

The most meaningful part of any wedding is knowing that I was able to help the couple feel good on their day and to create something they will love forever. This sweet review from Bomee and Iván is beyond words!
“Becca is truly the best! We feel so blessed to have found her; she was just the right person for capturing our wedding! She is able to speak Spanish, which is my husband’s native language, and she made us feel so comfortable from the first conversation we had with her. The photos turned out simply beautiful, but what makes Becca a remarkable photographer is her ability to make people feel at ease and to roll with any situation thrown at her. Our wedding day didn’t go as scheduled, and the timing of everything was thrown off, but Becca made sure that we were able to get the shots we wanted and her calm and cool demeanor helped keep us relaxed as well - which in turn made the photos turn out even better! It was such a pleasure to work with Becca and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer to capture their special day!”

Cait and Drew’s Jersey Shore Wedding at Abbie Holmes Estate

Cait and Drew were such a joy to work with, and really made me feel like family on their wedding day! I actually went to high school with Cait in rural South Jersey. Fun fact: we went to high school in the hometown of Cowtown Rodeo, the oldest continuously running rodeo in the country. Though it had been years since we’d seen each other IRL, Cait’s kind nature and gorgeous long hair were exactly as I remembered! It was so lovely to meet her husband Drew and capture their sweet love story.

Both growing up in South Jersey, Cait & Drew initially met at a local Ska show back in the day. It wasn’t until later they reconnected as adults and their love story began anew. Drew’s best man told a hilarious story about this New Year’s Eve party during his speech! Drew is a wildlife biologist who works in the meadowlands and marshes of New Jersey with birds, turtles, and fish. Cait is a video editor for CBS 3 News in Philly. I was definitely feeling the pressure knowing a fellow filmmaker was hiring me!

Cait and Drew’s love for craft beer, the outdoors, and live music was apparent throughout their wedding day. They had beer on tap from local breweries Vinyl Brewing and Slack Tide Brewing. Ceremonious Strings provided a live soundtrack to their wedding ceremony.
Our high school English teacher Mr. Kranz read a Mary Oliver poem during their ceremony. The poem is so beautiful and definitely speaks to Cait and Drew’s relationship:

How I Go to the Woods by Mary Oliver
Ordinarily, I go to the woods alone,
with not a single friend,
for they are all smilers and talkers and therefore
unsuitable.
I don’t really want to be witnessed
talking to the catbirds
or hugging the old black oak tree.
I have my way of praying,
as you no doubt have yours.
Besides, when I am alone
I can become invisible.
I can sit on the top of a dune
as motionless as an uprise of weeds,
until the foxes run by unconcerned.
I can hear the almost
unhearable sound of the roses singing.
If you have ever gone to the woods with me,
I must love you very much.

Cait and Drew’s own vows were undoubtedly some of the most beautiful I have ever heard! They felt more like love poems than wedding vows. You definitely have to watch the video to hear how special they were.

When I asked what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day, they responded, “An easy going day, happy vibes, lots of dancing and laughing, enjoying the love surrounding us that day!” Despite it being one of the hottest days of the year, it was such a relaxed and fun wedding. The love that Cait and Drew have for each other, and the support shown by their family and friends was palpable. To wrap up the night, they even had a visit from a Mr. Softee ice cream truck!

As I mentioned, Cait is a filmmaker herself, so it was nerve-wracking for me to make her wedding video! That’s why I was beyond grateful to hear this beautiful feedback from her. Thank you so much and congratulations to the happy couple!

“Becca is miraculous! We hired Becca for our wedding videography and she blew us away with her professionalism, kindness, talent and quality. Our highlight video was spectacular, it brought us right back to that magical day and MORE! Seeing our day through her eyes really helped fill the gaps of the busy day, like a fly on a wall we were able to experience everything all over again. There was so many shots she captured we weren’t even aware of- all flowing, effortless and dreamy to see edited together. We received our video about a month after our wedding, which was the perfect time for us to sit down and relive it together and share with family. We will treasure these memories for years to come and cannot thank her enough for creating such a precious digital keepsake for us. If you want to experience the magic and emotions of your special day all over again, hire Becca!”

Emily and Patrick’s Elegant Fall Wedding at The Lake House Inn

Classic Fall Wedding at The Lake House Inn in Perkasie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania

Emily and Patrick were such a fun loving couple who really took the time to enjoy every moment of their day! I absolutely loved capturing their wedding day.

Emily and Patrick included their children in every aspect of their wedding day. I come from a blended family myself, so I always love when couples go out of their way to make all family members feel included! Their adorable daughter was their flower girl and their son was their ring bearer.

Patrick and his groomsmen wore matching Philadelphia Eagles socks! His tie clip also featured the winning play from the Super Bowl! I had never seen anything like that and thought that was such a fun way to show love for Philly while having a wedding outside the city. This was also fitting considering that this is the same venue where quarterback Carson Wentz was married in 2018!

The location for their first look was phenomenal. In front of the reception hall, there is a deck where their bridesmaids and groomsmen could watch from a comfortable distance and still have the moment feel private. Of course this location is right on the lake as well, making for beautiful photos.

It was a beautiful, sunny fall day with the last of the foliage still hanging on to the trees. It’s easy to see why Emily and Patrick chose The Lake House Inn as their venue. Their ceremony took place on an overlook right on Lake Nockamixon. In their ceremony photos you can see the water and fall foliage behind them. The walk down the aisle is also spectacular, as their building has won many architectural awards. The bride and her father have a grand entrance out the staircase and walk down to where the ceremony takes place. Emily and Patrick also had live acoustic music during their ceremony which adds such a romantic element.

I absolutely loved the color palette of cool blues and grays. It was classic, elegant, and romantic. The use of eucalyptus in the floral arrangements was an extra special touch!

Their first dance of course included the participation of their two lovely children, making for some extra special moments. After some hilarious toasts and speeches, we ended the night with an epic dance party and a fantastic live band! Oh, and cake!
